Benjamin Edgar is an industrial designer and the founder of Boxed Water, among other things. As part of Oana's 'Non-Professional Practice,' Benjamin came to lecture to our class and share his career trajectory, relationship to Virgil Abloh, and much more.
As part of the course, we were tasked with designing a poster that represented Benjamin. Playing into his use of irony and overall playfulness, this poster is a spoof of his Switzerland Chicago poster and boxed water, in connection to his lecture at the GSD. By turning the boxed water into a blue foam model, raised on a podium like an object or architectural model, it situates his work within the context of the GSD. Overall, the poster is meant to look like something serious until closer inspection, where it becomes evident that it isn't something serious at all, much like Benjamin's work. |
